Q: Why did you want to start this kind of business?
A: I have been practicing massage therapy for over 20 years, and one of my favorite things about the career is the continued opportunities for growth and education. Starting my own business allows me to embrace that in new ways.
Q: How did you get your start?
A: Most of my massage career was at a luxury resort and spa in western Pennsylvania, with a focus on excellent customer service, high quality treatments, continued education and professional growth. Most recently though, I spent several years working in a local chiropractic office in suburban Pennsylvania. Now, this business allows me to bring together all that training into one customized space.
Q: What does your business sell or provide?
A: My business provides traditional massage services, including but not limited to Swedish, deep tissue and hot stones massage; energy modalities such as Reiki and sound therapy, and reflexology. My menu is simple; all of my services are customized to meet your specific needs. You just need to schedule a timeslot of 30, 60 or 90 minutes. This allows me to incorporate whatever modalities are needed to ensure you receive the best massage experience achieving your desired goals.
Additionally, I offer a rotation of body treatments and stress relief workshops. With wellness in mind, the body treatments use all organic products from a Chicago-based company called Red Cherry Group. For the workshops, I partner with a Deneen Guldner, a certified meditation and mindfulness teacher. We offer stress relief workshops centered around helping you understand the science of stress while teaching you quick and easy techniques to be incorporated daily for better health and wellbeing. These workshops are available for groups, corporations and community events.
Q: What is the biggest challenge you are facing right now?
A: The biggest challenge I am facing is expanding my influence and growing the wellness aspects of my business. I am incredibly grateful for my massage business, the opportunities and relationships I build with my clientele, but breaking into the wellness market and spreading the word within businesses, organizations and small groups has been a challenge.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do or place in Cumberland County?
A: I have really enjoyed being a part of the Camp Hill community since starting my business. I am impressed and amazed by the small business support it offers through its community members, other small business owners and participation opportunities through downtown Camp Hill events. Additionally, on a personal note, I love the many restaurant options of Cumberland County, the hiking, walking and bike trails throughout the area. I haven’t found them all yet, but they never disappoint, always offering a wonderful adventure for my family as well as opportunities for some “me time” as needed.
