Q: Why did you want to start this kind of business?
A: Peaceful Poses Kids Yoga began because of my yoga journey. I found tools to help calm me down, have a peaceful heart and relax. I wanted to share all of these tools with children and families. I have worked with children for 30 years either teaching ballet or yoga.
Q: How did you get your start?
A: I started reaching out to child care centers, schools, preschool programs and anywhere there were kids. I now teach at several child care centers in the south-central PA region, Ready to Learn programs, Headstart and Pre-K counts programs, Intermediate Units, elementary schools and libraries. I also provide Professional Development training for educators and speak at conferences, offering workshops on yoga, mindfulness and SEL.
Q: What does your business sell or provide?
A: I create trauma-informed, all-inclusive yoga classes designed just for kids. All classes contain yoga, mindfulness and social emotional learning. I help children learn about their emotions, move their bodies and relax with deep breaths. I travel to schools, preschools, child care centers, intermediate units, schools, camps and more. I also work with children and adults privately at my office located in the Just Plain Yoga studio in Camp Hill. I also teach at HACC as adjunct where I teach yoga and pilates as wellness courses.
Some of my credentials include RYT-500 (registered yoga teacher), RCYT (registered children’s yoga teacher), SEL*F (social emotional learning facilitator), certified in Transformative TEACHing and Leadership.
Q: What is the biggest challenge you are facing right now?
A: I am booking the academic year right now and spaces fill up quickly.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do or place in Cumberland County?
A: I like to take yoga classes at Just Plain Yoga and visit the Fredricksen Library.
