Q: Why did you want to start this kind of business?
A: It was my husband’s idea. His first job as a teenager was in an ice cream shop. He always said he wanted to start his career in ice cream and end it in ice cream.
Q: How did you get your start?
A: We saw this new concept, New Zealand-style ice cream, on the West Coast while visiting our daughter. We loved this style of ice cream so much that we wanted to bring it to Cumberland County. My husband and I are retired/semi-retired and wanted to do something fun for the next phase of our lives.
Q: What does your business sell or provide?
A: We create New Zealand-style ice cream, which is a unique concept in this area. New Zealand-style ice cream combines hard ice cream with frozen fruit that is blended together in a special machine created in New Zealand. Each serving is custom made right in front of you.
Q: What is the biggest challenge you are facing right now?
A: Being new, we still find many people that don’t know that we are there. We seem challenged to get the word out about this amazing dessert. Many people think we are a franchise, but we are a small, independently owned and operated business.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do or place in Cumberland County?
A: We love the community we live in, and it is important for us to give back as much as possible. We love supporting local charities, especially those that help children. Personally, we enjoy the rails to trails and all the great biking opportunities in our area.
