Q: Why did you want to start this kind of business?
A: As a family physician and mom of two, I saw firsthand how hard it can be to access thoughtful, personalized care — especially for busy families. I wanted to create a space where health care felt human again. A place where people are seen, heard and cared for without long waits, rushed visits or insurance barriers. Dr. Cindy Care was born out of my desire to build real relationships with my patients and offer care that actually fits into their lives.
Q: How did you get your start?
A: After years of working in hospital systems and seeing the burnout on both sides — physicians and patients — I decided to launch a direct primary care practice. I spent months planning, left my employed role and officially opened my doors in July 2025. It’s been the most rewarding leap I’ve ever taken.
Q: What does your business sell or provide?
A: Dr. Cindy Care provides full-spectrum family medical care without the need for insurance. Services include direct primary care memberships, acute care visits, weight loss programs, women’s health, postpartum support, mental health care and pediatric and adolescent care. We offer transparent pricing, extended visits, telehealth and same- or next-day access — all in a warm, judgment-free setting.
Q: What is the biggest challenge you are facing right now?
A: Raising awareness about what direct primary care is and how it’s different from traditional health care. Many people don’t realize they have an option that’s more personal, more affordable and truly accessible. Educating the community is a constant but worthwhile effort.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do or place in Cumberland County?
A: I love the strong sense of community and how families here really support one another. The mix of small-town charm and vibrant local businesses makes Cumberland County such a special place to raise my kids and grow a practice.
