Q: Why did you want to start this kind of business?
A: I wanted to provide a safe, welcoming community for busy adults over 40 to get stronger, feel healthier and be different from the normal big box gym setting with loud music, muscle meatheads and social media influencers. Exercising and training is not fun, and it must be somewhat desirable and enjoyable. Most adults aren’t comfortable walking into a big gym and knowing what to do, let alone doing it safely and effectively to help them get the results they desire. I wanted to provide that community for people searching for that space.
Q: How did you get your start?
A: I have a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Health Science. I began my career as a health and PE teacher. My personal training career started at a Gold’s Gym while I was working as a PT tech in a physical therapy clinic. I moved on to become a facility manager/director of training at a small group personal training studio. In 2020, I went back to school to become a PTA and in 2023 began the steps to open up my own personal training studio. We opened our current space in the Rossmoyne Business Center in September of 2024.
Q: What does your business sell or provide?
A: We provide individualized personal training in a small group setting. We also provide nutrition advice and guidance. Our small group setting is unique in the sense that it allows us to provide individual workouts tailored to each individual’s goals and limitations, but also provides a community environment that offers support and accountability from your peers.
Q: What is the biggest challenge you are facing right now?
A: Keeping up with our membership growth.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do or place in Cumberland County?
A: Kings Gap Recreational Area, Pine Grove Furnace State Park, Laurel Lake, Appalachian Trail and Urban Churn Creamery.
