Q: Why did you want to start this kind of business?
A: I’ve been a competitive athlete and intensely physical for many decades. As I have progressed through the aging process, I have experienced an increase in minor injuries and an increase in recovery time required. These patterns of aging and the need for an efficient and pragmatic approach brought me deep into manual therapy and the John F. Barnes’ myofascial release approach.
Q: How did you get your start?
A: I started my business in manual therapy after selling a construction business and going to school for massage therapy. After nine years of practicing traditional massage I became aware of a much more profound approach to manual therapy that was achieving miraculous results for people with acute and chronic pain issues without the need for drugs or surgery. After 13 years of practicing the John F. Barnes’ myofascial release approach, I can say studying under John Barnes’ PT was the best decision I ever made.
Q: What does your business sell or provide?
A: Carlisle Myofascial Release provides manual therapy using the John F. Barnes’ myofascial release approach. In addition, infrared sauna therapies and private hatha yoga instruction are also available by appointment. These are the tools that I have discovered over my 22 years of study and practice that consistently provide lasting results. The goal is restoring pain-free range of motion and inner stability while providing tools for clients to use for self-treatment and maintenance.
Q: What is the biggest challenge you are facing right now?
A: The biggest challenge I face right now is consistent flow of clients. Getting the word out and letting people know I am a resource in the Carlisle area, available seven days a week.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do or place in Cumberland County?
A: I love the country, fields, pastures, farm buildings, livestock, apple orchards and anything agrarian and everything agrarian in Cumberland County. I love the out-of-place architecture found in all the small towns and boroughs.
I love Carlisle in particular and the access to local restaurants and pubs.
My favorite thing to do is walk my dog in town and on local trails and conservancies. Second favorite is finding good food and drink (Market Cross Pub on Hanover is my favorite).
I also love One13 Social on High Street beside the Hamilton Restaurant (hotchee dogs).
